Shot noise in the chaotic-to-regular crossover regime.

چکیده
We investigate the shot noise for phase-coherent quantum transport in the chaotic-to-regular crossover regime. Employing the modular recursive Green's function method for both ballistic and disordered two-dimensional cavities, we find the Fano factor and the transmission eigenvalue distribution for regular systems to be surprisingly similar to those for chaotic systems. We argue that, in the case of regular dynamics in the cavity, diffraction at the lead openings is the dominant source of shot noise. We also explore the onset of the crossover from quantum-to-classical transport and develop a quasiclassical transport model for shot noise suppression which agrees with the numerical quantum data.

Quantum-to-classical crossover in full counting statistics.
The reduction of quantum scattering leads to the suppression of shot noise. In this Letter, we analyze the crossover from the quantum transport regime with universal shot noise to the classical regime where noise vanishes. By making use of the stochastic path integral approach, we find the statistics of transport and the transmission properties of a chaotic cavity as a function of a system para...
متن کاملShot noise in generic quantum dots: crossover from ballistic to diffusive transport
We study shot noise for generic quantum dots coupled to two leads and allow for an arbitrary strength of diffractive impurity scattering inside the dots. The ballistic quantum dots possess a mixed classical phase space, where regular and chaotic regions coexist. In absence of disorder, the noise is systematically suppressed below the universal value of fully chaotic systems, by an amount which ...
متن کاملShot noise in chaotic systems: "classical" to quantum crossover.
This paper is devoted to study of the classical-to-quantum crossover of the shot noise in chaotic systems. This crossover is determined by the ratio of the particle dwell time in the system, tau(d), to the characteristic time for diffraction t(E) approximately lambda(-1)|lnh, where lambda is the Lyapunov exponent. The shot noise vanishes when t(E)>>tau(d), while it reaches a universal value in ...
متن کاملShot noise in ballistic quantum dots with a mixed classical phase space.
We investigate shot noise for quantum dots whose classical phase space consists of both regular and chaotic regions. The noise is systematically suppressed below the universal value of fully chaotic systems, by an amount which varies with the positions of the leads. We analyze the dynamical origin of this effect by a novel way to incorporate diffractive impurity scattering. The dependence of th...
متن کاملDynamical model for the quantum-to-classical crossover of shot noise
We use the open kicked rotator to model the chaotic scattering in a ballistic quantum dot coupled by two point contacts to electron reservoirs. By calculating the system-size-over-wave-length dependence of the shotnoise power we study the crossover from wave to particle dynamics. Both a fully quantum-mechanical and a semiclassical calculation are presented. We find numerically in both approache...
